Conversations with God: The Movie

I'm bumping this post that I wrote over three years ago, because of its relevance to our hard-pressed economic times bringing the tragedy of homelessness and a message of hope.

It was a best-selling book that changed author Neale Donald Walsch's life.
Conversations with God became a trilogy, and didn't stop there. Released as a movie in October 2006, it is now available on DVD. But don't expect to see his book translated literally to the screen with the teachings that so profoundly affected millions of people.

The movie is a biographical one that tells the story of Walsch's journey to knowing God through conversational dialogue. But like all of us, the prelude is a big part of the story. A series of misfortunes forced him into a homeless life. The movie touchingly follows him as he tries to survive with a broken neck and a broken spirit. The horror of homelessness is going to tug at your heartstrings, and you will cheer Walsch on as he struggles to find his way back. This is a movie with an ending we already know: that his journey brought him to write a book of his conversations with God and propelled him into a very successful career as an author, speaker and personal development coach. In the closing scenes, we see the opening repeated as he looks out a window and sees an image of himself from yesterday. Here, the ending is only the beginning as he acknowledges his old, former self in an embrace and act of self-love. Symbolic of the acceptance of his old self that he had rejected, the old and new have become One.

An important message in self-love and self-forgiveness.

watched Conversations with God recently... i appreciate the point that Neale Donald Walsch makes about having freedom to admit that he's not perfect so he can move on from where he is.
